About TimberVolume
TimberVolume calculates rectangular lumber volume from exactly the dimensions you enter. Board feet per board = thickness(in) × width(in) × length(ft) /12. One board foot is 144 cubic inches; 12 board feet is 1 cubic foot.
Dimension basis and purchasing limits
Actual measured and nominal labels are explicit. No automatic nominal-to-actual conversion occurs. The main calculator adds no waste, kerf, defects or shrinkage allowance.
The Project Lumber List adds your allowance separately in each material/dimension group, then rounds the adjusted volume up to whole stock boards in that group. It does not optimize a cutting layout, kerf, grain or defects. Parts longer than stock are flagged even when total volume appears sufficient. Confirm actual stock sizes and a feasible cutting plan before ordering.
The shareable mini-list supports 4 stock groups with 3 named parts each so the complete image card remains legible. Decimal, fraction and mixed-number dimensions are supported; quantities are nonnegative whole counts.
